The Silly Sock Mystery

“Woof woof, where is my sock?” asks Benny the dog. Benny sniffs his basket. He looks under his bed. “Oh no, my red sock is gone! I need it for the Silly Sock Parade!”

Bella the cat jumps down from her chair. “Did someone say sock? I love socks! Was it a stripey sock or a spotty sock?”

“It was my red sock! My favorite!” says Benny, wagging his tail. “Will you help me find it, Bella?”

“Of course!” says Bella. “Let's ask Ollie the owl. He sees everything!”

The Search Begins

“Ollie! Ollie!” barks Benny, trotting to the big oak tree.

“Whoooo is making all that noise?” asks Ollie, blinking his sleepy eyes.

“Ollie, have you seen my red sock?” asks Benny.

“Hmmmm,” says Ollie. “I saw something red and wiggly flying past my branch!”

Bella giggles. “Maybe it was a flying sock! Or maybe it was a butterfly in disguise!”

“Let's check with Pip the pig,” says Benny. “She always knows what's going on.”

They trot and trot to Pip's house. Pip is baking a pie.

“Hello, friends!” oinks Pip. “Why are you sniffing and wiggling your noses?”

“Have you seen Benny's sock, Pip?” asks Bella.

“Hmmmm,” says Pip. “I saw something red by the pond. Maybe it was a silly fish wearing a sock!”

Benny laughs. “A fish in a sock? Oh, that would be funny! Let's go look!”

The Sock Surprise

By the pond, the friends see Momo the duck. Momo is splashing and quacking and… wearing something red on her head!

“Oh my whiskers!” giggles Bella. “Momo is wearing your sock like a hat!”

Momo shakes her tail. “Quack! My head is warm and cozy. What a nice hat!”

Benny wags and wags his tail. “Momo! That's my sock! May I have it back for the parade?”

Momo giggles. “Quack! Of course, Benny. Thank you for the hat. It was so silly!”

Benny wears his sock on his paw and tips it like a hat. “Thank you, everyone! Now I am ready for the Silly Sock Parade!”

They all laugh and march around the pond, singing, “Silly socks, silly socks, we love silly socks!” The mystery is solved, and everyone feels very silly and happy.
