Part One: Morning at the Police Station

The sun was peeking through the windows. Officer Maya put on her shiny blue hat and buttoned her jacket. She smiled in the mirror. “Ready to help today!” she said gently.

At the police station, Maya saw her friends, Officer Sam and Officer Lee. “Good morning!” Maya said. “Let's have a calm and helpful day.” She checked her special notepad and her radio. She always liked to be ready.

Outside, the city was waking up. Birds sang, cars rolled by, and people walked to school and work. Maya waved at everyone. “Hello! Good morning!” she said, and people smiled and waved back.

Suddenly, Maya heard giggles in the hallway. There were some children from the neighborhood, holding their teacher's hand. They were visiting the station today.

“Welcome!” Maya said softly. “This is a safe and quiet place. Would you like to see my police badge?” The children nodded. Maya showed them her shiny badge. It sparkled in the light.

“What do police officers do?” asked little Timmy. He looked up at Maya with big eyes.

“We help everyone,” Maya said, kneeling down to his level. “We keep people safe and help when someone is lost or needs a friend. If someone is sad or worried, we listen and make sure they feel better.”

The children listened. Maya's voice was calm and warm, like a soft blanket.

Part Two: The Lost Teddy Adventure

As Maya showed the children the police car, Lila, a small girl, looked upset. She held her backpack tight.

Maya noticed. She knelt down again. “Lila, are you okay?” she asked softly.

Lila shook her head. “My teddy bear is gone,” she whispered. “I can't find him.”

Maya smiled gently. “That sounds very hard,” she said. “Would you like me to help you look?”

Lila nodded, wiping her eyes.

“Everyone, let's help Lila,” Maya said. “We can all be helpers today.”

The children looked around the hallway. They looked under benches and behind the coat rack. “Teddy?” Maya called quietly. “Are you hiding?”

“No teddy here!” said Timmy, peeking under a chair.

Maya thought for a moment. “Lila, where did you last see your teddy?”

Lila sniffled. “I think… I had him when we took off our coats.”

Maya and the children walked to the coat hooks. Maya knelt and gently moved some coats. Suddenly, she spotted two soft ears peeking out.

“Look who I found!” Maya said with a big smile.

Lila's eyes went wide and bright. “Teddy!” she cheered.

She hugged her bear tightly. Maya smiled at her. “It's okay to feel sad or worried when we lose something,” Maya said. “Talking about our feelings helps. And asking for help is very brave.

The children nodded. “Thank you, Officer Maya!” they said together.

Part Three: Calm in the Hallway

Maya led the children down the hallway. The walls had happy pictures of police officers helping people. Some pictures showed officers talking to children, some showed officers helping a lost puppy find its home.

Maya stopped in the quietest part of the hallway. She knelt down, so she was close to everyone.

“Police officers listen to everyone,” she said softly. “If you feel sad, or scared, or even happy, you can always tell us. We are here to help.”

Lila raised her hand. “I felt sad when Teddy was lost. Now I feel happy and safe.”

“That's wonderful, Lila!” Maya said, clapping softly. “Feelings can change, and that's okay. We can always talk about them.”

Maya took a deep breath and smiled. “Let's all take a deep breath together. In…and out.”

The children breathed in and out, slowly and quietly. The hallway became very calm and peaceful.

“Do you hear how quiet it is now?” Maya whispered. “Sometimes, quiet feels nice. It helps us feel calm inside.”

The teacher smiled. “Thank you, Officer Maya. We learned so much today.”

Maya waved goodbye as the children left, walking softly down the hallway. The police station felt peaceful. Maya listened to the soft sounds—the gentle steps, the quiet voices, the happy sighs.

At the end of the day, Maya hung up her hat and smiled. She thought about all the children and their feelings. She knew she had helped, just by listening and caring.

The hallway was silent now. Calm and safe, just like Maya liked it.
