The City of Tomorrow
Maya was a little girl who lived in the city of tomorrow. The city was big and bright, full of tall, shiny buildings that touched the clouds. The streets were wide and clean, and everywhere Maya looked, she saw little robots rolling around, helping people with their bags or watering the flowers.
Every morning, Maya woke up to the soft sound of her window gently opening by itself. The sky outside was always a soft blue, with pink clouds floating by. Maya loved her city. She liked how everything was new and exciting.
Today, Maya was ready for an adventure. She put on her sparkly shoes, grabbed her favorite pink backpack, and hugged her robot puppy, Zippy.
“Let's go see Grandma!” she said. Zippy wagged his shiny tail and barked, “Woof-woof!”
Maya's home had a round yellow door that slid open with a happy beep. Outside, the air smelled sweet, like the flower gardens on the rooftops. Maya skipped down the path and waved to her neighbor, Mr. Lee, who was watering his floating tomatoes.
“Good morning, Maya!” called Mr. Lee.
“Good morning!” Maya called back. Zippy barked, “Woof-woof!”
Maya loved visiting Grandma. Grandma lived on the other side of the city, in a tall building covered with green vines and tiny blinking lights. Maya liked to take the sky-train to get there. The sky-train was very fast and very quiet. It didn't have wheels; it floated above the ground like magic.
The Sky-Train Surprise
Maya and Zippy hurried to the sky-train station. The station was full of people and robots, all busy and happy. The walls changed colors, sometimes blue, sometimes green, sometimes rainbow, depending on the time of day.
Maya pressed the button for the sky-train. The doors slid open with a gentle whoosh. Maya and Zippy got on and found a seat by the window.
As the train started to move, Maya looked out and saw the city below her. There were parks with children flying kites, robots sweeping the playgrounds, and fountains that glowed in the sunlight.
Suddenly, the train slowed down and stopped. The lights flickered gently. A soft voice came from the ceiling.
“Hello, passengers. There is a small problem. Please stay calm. We will fix it soon.”
Maya looked at Zippy. Zippy looked at Maya.
“Oh no,” Maya whispered. “How will we get to Grandma if the train is stuck?”
Zippy wagged his tail. “Don't worry, Maya. We can help!”
Maya smiled. She remembered what her mom always said: “In our city, everyone helps each other.”
Maya looked around. The other passengers were quiet, but some looked worried. Maya decided to be brave.
“Excuse me,” Maya said to the sky-train. “Can you tell us what's wrong?”
A tiny robot rolled out from under the seats. It was round and shiny, with blinking blue eyes.
“Hello, Maya,” said the robot. “One of my friends, the cleaning robot, got his wheel stuck in the door. We need to help him.”
Maya nodded. “We can do that! Right, Zippy?”
Zippy barked, “Woof-woof!”
Maya's Clever Plan
Maya stood up and held Zippy's paw. She walked to the end of the train, where the door was stuck. There, a small cleaning robot was trying to wiggle free, but his wheel was caught in the door.
“Don't worry, little robot,” Maya said softly. “We're here to help.”
The cleaning robot blinked and said, “Thank you, Maya.”
Maya thought for a moment. She remembered how her dad fixed her toy car when its wheel was stuck.
“Zippy, can you help me?”
Zippy nodded and used his shiny nose to press a small button near the door. Maya gently pulled the cleaning robot's wheel.
“One, two, three… pull!” Maya said.
With a little pop, the wheel came free! The cleaning robot spun around in a happy circle.
“Thank you, Maya! Thank you, Zippy!”
The other passengers clapped. The sky-train's lights turned a happy yellow.
“Thank you for your help, Maya,” said the voice from the ceiling. “We can go now!”
Maya grinned. She felt proud. Helping felt good.
A Happy Ending at Grandma's
The sky-train started moving again. Soon, Maya and Zippy arrived at Grandma's building. The doors slid open and Maya waved goodbye to the little robot and the other passengers.
“Bye, Maya!” called the cleaning robot. “You are very kind!”
Maya and Zippy ran to Grandma's door. Grandma opened it with a big smile.
“Maya! Zippy! I'm so happy to see you!”
Maya hugged Grandma tightly.
“We helped a robot on the sky-train!” Maya said.
Grandma smiled and gave Maya a big cookie. “That's wonderful! In our city, everyone helps each other. I'm so proud of you.”
Maya felt warm and happy inside. She looked out the window at the bright city. She saw the sky-trains gliding, the robots helping, and the children playing in the parks.
Maya knew that, in the city of tomorrow, everyone could be a helper. Even a little girl and her robot puppy.
Zippy licked Maya's cheek. “Woof-woof!”
Maya laughed and hugged him. “Let's always help, Zippy. Helping makes our city shine!”
Outside, the city sparkled under the soft pink clouds. And Maya knew that every day in the city of tomorrow could be a bright, happy adventure, especially when you were kind and helped others.
