Little Wolf woke early by the shore. He wore a small blue scarf. The sun was soft. The waves made a slow song.
“I will find the glowing shell,” he said. He had seen it once in a dream. It glowed like a little star under the water. He wanted to see it again.
He walked on the wet sand. Tiny crabs waved their claws. Seaweed brushed his paws. The sea smelled like salt and sun.
A friendly fish popped up. “Hello,” he said. “Hello,” said Little Wolf. “Where is the glowing shell?”
The fish bobbed. “Follow the bright pebble path,” he said. “It will show you the way.”
Little Wolf looked. Small pebbles shone like tiny moons. He hopped from pebble to pebble. He smiled. He felt brave.
The tide was low and calm. Little Wolf knew the water would come back soon. He had to be careful. He held a deep breath. He stepped into a shallow pool.
The sea opened like a lap. Little Wolf swam with gentle paws. The water was cool and clean. Tiny bubbles rose. They tickled his nose. He giggled and blew bubbles back.
A round, shy turtle floated nearby. “Would you like to join?” said the turtle. “Yes, please,” said Little Wolf. “I like slow swims.”
They moved together. The turtle pointed with his shell. “See the coral garden?” he said. Little Wolf looked. Bright coral stood like little trees. Yellow fish played hide and seek. Pink clams yawned wide.
Little Wolf touched a soft coral. It felt like a sponge. “Hello,” he whispered. Coral waved in the tiny current. The coral garden made Little Wolf very happy.
A school of silver fish swirled by. They made a shiny circle. Little Wolf watched. Their dance was gentle. He learned their dance with one small hop and a happy twirl. They laughed softly.
Suddenly a ring of tall sea grass grew before them. It swayed like green fingers. Little Wolf felt a little lost. The pebbles were gone.
“Do not be afraid,” said Turtle. “We look and we listen.”
Little Wolf listened. He heard a faint bell sound. The bell was soft and warm. He followed the sound. The sea grass parted like a curtain.
Beyond, a sea cave glowed blue. Little lights floated inside like little lanterns. Little Wolf's heart beat with wonder. He could see the glowing shell far in the cave, resting on a pearl pillow.
“Careful,” said Turtle. “The tide will come in a little while.” Little Wolf nodded. He felt a small hurry. He must be calm and quick.
They went into the cave. Tiny jellyfish lit the way. They were not scary. They looked like floating balloons. “Hello,” said a jellyfish. “Hello,” said Little Wolf.
At the cave center, the glowing shell shone like a tiny moon. It was gentle and warm. Little Wolf reached out. The shell hummed a soft song. Little Wolf listened. It sounded like the sea singing bedtime.
“Take it,” whispered a small starfish. Little Wolf picked the shell. It fit in his paws like a warm stone. It made him feel brave and kind.
“Thank you,” he said to the sea. “Thank you,” said the sea in a soft rush.
Outside, the water had climbed a bit. The tide was moving closer. Little Wolf felt a flutter. He needed to go back to the shore before the water rose too high.
Turtle smiled. “We go slow and we go safe,” he said. Little Wolf nodded. “Slow and safe,” he repeated.
They swam back through the coral garden. The silver fish formed a path. The jellyfish lit the way again. Little Wolf held the shell close. It glowed and warmed his scarf.
A little wave played with his ears. Little Wolf laughed. “Hello, little wave,” he said. The wave tickled and hurried him along.
Near the shore, the water was whispering louder. The tide wanted to come home. Little Wolf could hear the shore birds calling. He wiggled his paws and paddled with all his might.
A friendly seal popped up. “Need a lift?” she asked. Little Wolf hopped onto her back. She pushed him gently with a strong flip. Little Wolf felt safe. He felt brave.
They reached the wet sand. The tide touched their toes and smiled. Little Wolf waved to the sea. “Goodbye for now,” he said. The sea shone back.
Little Wolf sat on the sand and looked at the shell. It still glowed. He learned something on his adventure. He learned to listen, to be brave, and to ask for help. He learned to be open to friends he had not met before.
The sun sank low. The sky turned soft orange and pink. Little Wolf wrapped his scarf snug. He placed the glowing shell beside him. It shone like a small moon under the stars.
“I will come again,” he said softly. Turtle, Fish, Seal, and all the new friends waved from the water. Little Wolf smiled. He felt warm and safe and happy.
He closed his eyes. The sea sang a little song. The stars listened. Little Wolf dreamed of coral gardens and tiny moons. He slept knowing the sea was full of wonders and friends, and that he could always find his way home.
