Chapter 1: A New Friend in the Meadow

Bunny woke up with the sunshine on his soft white ears. He stretched and wiggled his nose. It was a lovely day in the meadow. Bunny liked to hop and play every morning. He liked listening to the birds. He liked smelling the fresh green grass.

Today, Bunny wanted to make a new friend. He hopped down the little hill, looking for someone to play with. Suddenly, he saw someone sitting under a big tree. It was not another bunny. It was Squirrel.

Squirrel had a fluffy, bushy tail and shiny brown fur. Squirrel was nibbling on a bright red nut. Bunny had never played with a squirrel before. He felt a little shy.

Bunny took a deep breath and hopped closer. “Hello, I am Bunny,” he said softly.

Squirrel looked up and smiled. “Hello, Bunny! I am Squirrel,” she said. Her voice was gentle, and her eyes were kind.

Bunny smiled. “Do you want to play with me?” he asked.

Squirrel nodded. “Yes, I would like that. I like playing with friends,” she said.

Bunny felt happy. But he noticed that Squirrel was eating a nut he had never seen before. Bunny always ate green leaves and crunchy carrots. He wondered if Squirrel liked carrots too.

Chapter 2: Learning New Things Together

Bunny showed Squirrel how to hop fast and wiggle his nose. Squirrel tried to hop, but her jumps were small and quick. She laughed and laughed. Bunny laughed too. “You hop in a funny way!” Bunny said kindly.

Squirrel smiled. “I do! That's how squirrels hop,” she giggled.

Then Squirrel showed Bunny how to climb a tree. Squirrel climbed up, up, up with her tiny paws. Bunny tried to climb, but he kept slipping down. Squirrel came down and patted his ear. “It's okay, Bunny. You are good at hopping. I am good at climbing. We are both special.

Bunny and Squirrel sat under the tree together. Squirrel offered Bunny a piece of her red nut. “Would you like to try?” she asked.

Bunny sniffed the nut. It smelled sweet and new. He took a tiny bite. “Yummy!” Bunny said. “Thank you, Squirrel.”

Bunny shared his crunchy carrot with Squirrel. Squirrel nibbled the carrot. “Crunch, crunch! I like it!” she said.

Bunny and Squirrel smiled at each other.

Chapter 3: Everyone is Welcome

The next day, Bunny saw a sign in the meadow. It said, “Friendship Picnic! All animals are welcome.” Bunny was excited. He told Squirrel, “Let's go together!”

At the picnic, bunnies, squirrels, birds, and even hedgehogs came. Some ate berries. Some ate nuts. Some ate grass. Everyone looked different. Everyone liked different things.

Bunny and Squirrel sat together and shared their snacks. They laughed and talked. They played together with their new friends. Bunny saw that even if animals were different, they could have fun and be kind.

Bunny felt warm inside. He learned that being different is special. He learned that when everyone is welcome, everyone can be happy.

Bunny looked at Squirrel and said, “I am glad we are friends.”

Squirrel hugged Bunny. “Me too,” she said.

And from that day, Bunny knew the meadow was a better place when every animal was included and loved, just the way they are.
