Chapter 1: The Mother's Day Surprise

Milly woke up to the sound of birds singing outside her window. She stretched, yawned, and sat up in her bed. Suddenly, she remembered—today was Mother's Day! Milly's eyes grew big. She jumped out of bed and ran to her window. The sun was shining, and the sky was as blue as her favorite dress.

Milly ran to her closet. She looked for the gift she had made for her mum. She looked in her drawer. She looked under her bed. She looked behind her toy box.

“Oh no!” Milly cried. “I don't have a gift for Mum!”

Milly's heart felt a little wobbly. She wanted to do something special for her mum. Something big. Something fun. Something that would make her mum smile and laugh.

Just then, Milly heard giggles outside. She peeked through the window and saw her three best friends: Rosie, Tessa, and Lila. They were waving at her from the garden.

Milly ran outside, her hair all messy and her slippers flapping. “Hi, Milly!” cheered Rosie. She had rosy cheeks and curly hair.

“Happy Mother's Day!” said Tessa, jumping up and down. Tessa wore a bright yellow dress with sunflowers.

“Do you want to play?” asked Lila, who had a big pink bow in her hair.

Milly shook her head. “I can't play. I need to make a special surprise for my mum! But I don't have a gift.”

The friends looked at each other. Rosie grinned. “Let's make something together! Let's make the best Mother's Day surprise ever!”

Milly smiled. Her friends always had the best ideas.

Chapter 2: Ideas in the Garden

The four friends sat in a circle on the soft green grass. They thought and thought.

“I could draw a picture!” said Milly. She pulled out her crayons from her pocket.

“But you always draw pictures,” said Rosie, with a gentle smile. “Let's do something different!”

“I have an idea,” said Tessa. “What if we use things from the garden? Flowers! Leaves! Sticks!”

“Oh, yes!” said Lila. “Let's make a treasure hunt for your mum! A special Mother's Day treasure hunt!”

Milly's eyes sparkled. “A treasure hunt is fun! My mum loves adventures!”

The girls clapped their hands. They started looking for treasures in the garden.

Rosie found a shiny pebble. “This can be a magic stone!”

Tessa picked a bunch of tiny white daisies. “These are fairy flowers!”

Lila collected some soft feathers. “These are secret clues!”

Milly found a bright red apple under the tree. “This is the final treasure!”

The girls giggled and spun around. “Let's hide the treasures and make clues!” said Rosie.

They hid the magic stone under the blue bench. They put the fairy flowers inside a little cup. They placed the feathers under the big oak tree. The red apple was hidden inside Milly's picnic basket.

Chapter 3: A Picnic and a Hunt

Milly ran inside and called, “Mum! Mum! Come outside, please!”

Mum came to the garden. She wore a flowery dress and a big, happy smile. “Good morning, Milly! Good morning, girls!”

Milly took her mum's hand. “We have a surprise for you! It's a garden treasure hunt, just for you!”

Mum's eyes twinkled. “A treasure hunt? How wonderful!”

Rosie handed Mum the first clue. “Find the bench that's blue, and look beneath for a present just for you!”

Mum walked to the blue bench, laughing with the girls. She bent down and found the shiny magic stone. “Oh! A magic stone! Thank you!”

Tessa gave the next clue. “Look for a cup, small and white. Inside you'll find something light!”

Mum found the cup and picked up the fairy flowers. “Daisies! My favorite!”

Lila read the next clue, giggling. “Under the big oak tree, something soft is waiting for thee!”

Mum found the soft feathers. “Feathers! How lovely and tickly!”

Milly handed the last clue. “Look in the basket, red and round, the final treasure can be found!”

Mum opened the basket and found the shiny red apple. “What a beautiful apple! The best treasure of all!”

Then Milly spread out a big blanket on the grass. The girls put out sandwiches, cookies, and juice. Mum sat in the middle, smiling from ear to ear.

They all sat together and munched their lunch. Birds sang. Bees buzzed. The sun made everything warm and golden.

Chapter 4: Hugs, Laughter, and Love

After the picnic, the girls jumped and tumbled in the grass. Mum lay down and watched the clouds. She saw a cloud shaped like a heart.

Milly snuggled up next to her mum. “Did you like your Mother's Day surprise, Mum?”

Mum hugged Milly tight. “It was the best surprise ever. I loved the treasure hunt. I loved the picnic. But most of all, I loved being with you.”

Rosie, Tessa, and Lila joined in for a big, squishy group hug. “Happy Mother's Day!” they all sang.

Everyone laughed. Milly's mum laughed the loudest. Her eyes shone with happy tears.

“You don't need fancy gifts,” said Mum, “just love, laughter, and a little bit of fun!”

The girls nodded. Milly felt warm and glad inside. She knew the best gifts were the ones made with heart.

As the sun slowly set, the girls promised to plan another special day soon. Milly waved goodbye to her friends, then cuddled up close to her mum.

Milly whispered, “I love you, Mum. Happy Mother's Day.”

Mum whispered back, “I love you too, Milly. Every day with you is the best day.”

And in the golden, gentle garden, they both smiled, feeling the magic of love, laughter, and little surprises.
