Chapter 1: The Missing Cupcake Surprise

It was a sunny Saturday, and Lily, Mia, and Zoe were extra excited. Today was Lily's birthday, and she was having a picnic party at the park. There were balloons tied to the benches, a big checkered blanket on the grass, and a bright blue sky above. Birds chirped the silliest songs, and the scent of chocolate cupcakes floated in the air.

Lily grinned from ear to ear as her friends arrived. Mia wore her favorite rainbow hat, and Zoe skipped along with her pigtails bouncing. “Happy Birthday, Lily!” they shouted together, each giving her a big, squishy hug.

There were games to play, sandwiches to eat, and, best of all, a box of twelve cupcakes decorated with tiny, colorful stars. “Let's play hide and seek!” Zoe suggested. Everyone cheered and ran to hide, giggling behind trees and under the picnic table.

Later, after lots of fun, Lily announced, “It's cupcake time!” The girls hurried to the blanket, mouths watering. But when Lily opened the cupcake box, she gasped. One cupcake was gone! There were only eleven.

Lily's cheeks turned as red as a tomato. “Who took my cupcake?” she cried. Her hands turned into fists, and her feet stamped the ground. She felt a strange, hot feeling bubbling inside her. Mia and Zoe stared at her, surprised.

“It wasn't me!” Mia said, eyes wide. “I promise, Lily!”

“Me neither,” Zoe added, shaking her head so fast her pigtails looked like helicopter blades.

Lily's heart thumped faster. She didn't know if she wanted to shout or cry. She felt like a volcano about to erupt. She was angry!

Chapter 2: The Angry Volcano

Lily crossed her arms and frowned. She felt like a big, grumpy bear. “It's not fair!” she said loudly. “I was really looking forward to that cupcake. Now my birthday is ruined!”

Mia gently touched Lily's shoulder. “Lily, you look like you're about to blow up, like a volcano!” she said, making a silly exploding sound. Zoe giggled and pretended to be a puff of smoke.

Lily tried not to smile, but it was hard. “I just feel so… mad!” she said. “My tummy feels twisty, and my head feels hot.”

“That's what anger feels like,” Mia said. “Sometimes I get angry too. Like when my brother breaks my Lego towers.”

Zoe nodded. “Or when my cat sits on my homework! Grrr!” She made a funny angry face, scrunching up her nose and puffing up her cheeks. Lily giggled a little.

Mia sat next to Lily. “What do you do when you get angry?” she asked.

Lily thought. Sometimes she yelled. Sometimes she stomped. But she remembered her mom's words: “Take a deep breath, count to ten, and talk about your feelings.”

Zoe took a big, deep breath and blew it out, making her lips buzz like a bumblebee. Mia joined in. “Let's all be bumblebees!” she said, and the three girls buzzed together, their anger floating away with each silly breath.

Lily felt a little better. The angry volcano inside her wasn't so hot anymore. She could think again.

Chapter 3: The Great Cupcake Mystery

Now that Lily wasn't so angry, she looked at the cupcake box again. She noticed something strange—there were tiny, muddy pawprints next to the missing cupcake spot!

“Look!” she pointed. “These are animal pawprints!”

The girls followed the trail. It led them past the blanket, under a bush, and—surprise!—there sat a chubby squirrel, happily munching on a cupcake. Frosting covered its whiskers, and crumbs stuck to its fur.

Zoe burst out laughing. “The cupcake thief is a squirrel!” she shouted.

Lily's anger disappeared, replaced by giggles. “He must have wanted to celebrate my birthday too. Look at his silly face!”

Mia grinned. “Well, he does look like he's having the best party.”

The girls sat down and watched the squirrel finish the cupcake. Lily thought about how she'd felt earlier. “I was really angry,” she said. “But talking to you made me feel better. And breathing like a bumblebee was funny!”

Mia put her arm around Lily. “It's okay to feel angry. But it helps to talk about it, or be silly together.”

Zoe nodded. “And sometimes, things aren't as bad as they seem. Especially when squirrels are involved!”

They all laughed.

Chapter 4: Sharing and Smiling

Lily looked at the cupcakes. “There are still eleven left. That's enough for all of us,” she said.

She divided the cupcakes between her friends. “I'm glad I didn't let my anger ruin the whole party,” she said. “Next time I feel like a volcano, I'll try to talk about it and breathe like a bumblebee.”

The girls raised their cupcakes. “To silly squirrels and bumblebees!” Mia cheered.

As they munched their cupcakes, the sun shined brighter, and the park filled with laughter. Lily realized that sometimes, anger bubbles up like a volcano. But with friends, deep breaths, and a little silliness, it can turn into giggles and smiles.

That day, Lily learned that anger is just another feeling, and with help, it doesn't have to spoil the fun. She also learned that even squirrels like birthday parties!

And from that moment, whenever Lily felt a little volcano inside her, she remembered to buzz like a bumblebee, talk to her friends, and look for the funny side—even if it meant sharing dessert with a squirrel.
