Chapter 1: A New Morning

Sarah, Max, Lily, and Jake woke up to the sound of birds chirping outside their windows. The sun peeked through the curtains, casting a warm glow on their rooms. Today was a special day; they were going to spend the afternoon at the park. But first, there was breakfast, and Sarah's mom was making her famous pancakes.

As they gathered around the breakfast table, Sarah noticed her mom was a bit quieter than usual. “Mom, are you okay?” she asked softly.

Her mom smiled gently. “I'm okay, sweetheart. I just have something important to talk to you about later.”

Sarah nodded, trying to shake off the little flutter of worry in her tummy. She looked over at her friends, who were happily munching on pancakes. Max, who was in his wheelchair, was busy trying to stack his pancakes as high as he could. “Look, I'm making a pancake tower!” he exclaimed, making everyone giggle.

After breakfast, they all decided to play a game of hide and seek in the backyard. Sarah was the seeker, and she counted to twenty while the others hid. She found Jake first, who was hiding behind the big oak tree. “Gotcha!” she laughed.

Lily popped out from her hiding spot behind the garden shed. “I thought I was so well hidden!” she giggled. Max rolled out from behind the slide with a big grin. “You're too good at this, Sarah!” he said.

The morning was filled with laughter, and for a moment, Sarah forgot about her mom's serious face at breakfast.

Chapter 2: The Talk

After their game, Sarah's mom called her inside. “Sarah, can we talk for a moment?” she asked gently.

Sarah nodded, feeling a bit nervous. They sat on the couch, and her mom took her hand. “Sarah, I want to talk to you about something important. You know how much Daddy and I love you, right?”

Sarah nodded again. “Of course, Mom.”

“Well,” her mom continued, “Daddy and I have decided that it's best for us to live in different houses. We both love you very much, and nothing will change that.”

Sarah felt a wave of emotions. “Does that mean I won't see Daddy?” she asked, her voice small.

“Oh no, sweetheart,” her mom reassured her, wrapping her in a hug. “You'll see Daddy lots of times. You'll have two homes now, and you can call us anytime.”

Sarah felt a little better. “Will Max, Lily, and Jake still come over to play?”

“Of course they will,” her mom smiled. “They're your friends, and they'll always be welcome.”

Sarah hugged her mom tightly. “Okay. I just want us all to be happy.”

Her mom kissed the top of her head. “We will be, Sarah. We will be.”

Chapter 3: The Park Adventure

In the afternoon, they all headed to the park. The sun was shining, and the air was filled with the sounds of children playing and birds singing. It was the perfect day for an adventure.

Max, Lily, Jake, and Sarah raced to the playground. Max was excited to try out the new swing that was accessible for wheelchairs. “Look at me, I'm flying!” he shouted with joy as he swung back and forth.

Sarah and Lily climbed the jungle gym while Jake challenged them to a race down the slide. They all laughed and played, their worries melting away in the sunshine.

After a while, they sat on the grass to rest. “I'm glad we came to the park today,” Sarah said. “It's nice to be with all of you.”

Jake nodded. “Yeah, and I'm really glad you're still smiling, Sarah.”

Sarah smiled. “Thanks, Jake. I know things are changing, but it's okay. I still have all of you, and that makes me happy.”

Lily gave Sarah a big hug. “We'll always be here for you, Sarah. No matter what.”

Chapter 4: A Hug and a Promise

As the sun began to set, it was time to head home. Sarah felt a little nervous about the changes, but she knew she had her friends and family to support her.

Before they left the park, Sarah turned to her friends. “Can I have a hug?” she asked.

Max wheeled over, and they all gathered around for a group hug. “We're like a big family,” Max said.

As they headed back, Sarah thought about the day. It had been filled with fun and friendship, and even though things were changing, she knew everything would be okay.

When they arrived at Sarah's house, her mom was waiting with a warm smile. “Did you have fun?” she asked.

“We had the best time!” Sarah replied.

Her mom hugged her tightly. “I'm so glad.”

Before Max, Lily, and Jake left, Sarah held up her hand. “High five, everyone!” she said, grinning.

They all high-fived, and Sarah felt a little more at ease. She knew that with patience and love, everything would work out just fine. And with her friends by her side, she couldn't help but feel hopeful for the future.
