A girl-child, Maya, depicted as a joyful, mischievous about 7-year-old heroine with a bright smile and shining eyes, in a flowing red cape and shiny red boots, playfully snatching a gray-and-white tabby cat perched on a hat shop sign as she lightly spins in midair; a smiling about 6-year-old boy on a small scooter in the left background watches his hat fly off with arms raised; a colorful friendly city street before a hat shop with a large round sign, shiny windows, cobbles, round lampposts and potted flowers; passersby smile; pastel watercolor with grainy textures, fine white-gel pen highlights and warm morning light. report a problem with this image

Maya the Super Helper woke up in her bright cape. She lived in a big city. The sun smiled. The buses honked. Maya put on her fun red boots.

She heard a beep. A cat was stuck on a tall hat shop sign. Maya flew up, but she sneezed and spun like a top. The cat mewed and laughed. Maya giggled too. She held the cat and put it down. "Thank you," said the cat. The cat danced away.

Next, a hat blew off a boy. The hat flew on a scooter. Maya ran fast. She jumped and caught the hat with one hand. The scooter beeped and spun in a soft loop. The boy smiled. "Yay!" he said. Maya bowed like a clown.

A duck parade came by. Ducks quacked in small shoes. One duck lost its shoe. Maya picked it up. She slipped on a banana peel and landed on a big soft pillow from a shop. The pillow puffed and made a tiny cloud pop sound. Everyone laughed. The duck put its shoe back and waddled on.

A little cart of flowers tipped. Flowers rolled like soft balls. Maya made a gentle net from her scarf. She scooped all the flowers. The cart smiled with fresh petals. The shop owner clapped. "Wow!" she said.

At the park, a kite did a silly dance in a tree. Maya hummed and hummed. The kite came down like a funny bird. A puppy chased it and then slept. Maya tucked the kite and the puppy under a shade leaf. The puppy snored a tiny song.

When the day ended, Maya hung her cape and boots. She smiled. The city glowed warm and calm.

Moral: Small acts of help make big smiles.
