The First Day of Autumn
Once upon a time, in a small village surrounded by tall, colorful trees, there lived a little boy named Jack. Jack was five years old, and he loved the autumn season. The leaves turned bright orange, red, and yellow, and they crunched under his feet when he walked.
One sunny morning, Jack's mom said, "Jack, today we will start getting ready for winter. We have lots of fun things to do!"
Jack clapped his hands and jumped up and down. "Yay, I love autumn! What will we do, Mommy?"
"We will rake leaves, pick apples, and make the garden ready," she replied with a warm smile.
Jack put on his cozy sweater and his favorite boots. He was ready for his autumn adventure.
The Leaf Pile
Jack and his mom went outside. The garden was covered in leaves. Jack picked up a rake, and his mom picked up another. Together, they began to gather the leaves into a big, fluffy pile.
"Look at all the colors, Mommy!" Jack exclaimed, pointing at the leaves. "Red, yellow, orange, and even brown!"
"Yes, Jack," his mom said. "These colors mean autumn is here. The trees are getting ready for a winter rest."
Jack raked and raked until he had made the biggest pile of leaves he had ever seen. He giggled and said, "Can I jump in, Mommy?"
"Of course!" his mom laughed.
Jack ran and jumped into the pile. The leaves flew up in the air and came down around him like a shower of colors. "This is the best day ever!" Jack shouted with joy.
Apple Picking Fun
After playing in the leaves, Jack and his mom walked to the apple orchard. The trees were full of red, shiny apples. Jack's mom gave him a small basket.
"Let's pick some apples for our pie, Jack," she said.
Jack reached up on his tippy-toes to pick the biggest apple he could find. "This one is perfect!" he said proudly, placing it in his basket.
They picked and picked until their baskets were full. As they walked home, Jack said, "I can't wait to taste the pie, Mommy!"
His mom nodded. "And when we make it, you can help me. Baking is another fun autumn activity."
Jack smiled wide. He loved helping in the kitchen.
Preparing the Garden
Back at home, Jack and his mom went to the garden. It was time to prepare it for winter. "We need to clean the garden beds and plant bulbs for spring flowers," said Jack's mom.
"Spring flowers?" Jack asked, curious.
"Yes," she replied. "If we plant them now, they will sleep all winter and wake up in spring with beautiful blooms."
Jack liked the sound of that. He helped his mom clear the old plants and gently placed the bulbs in the soil. "I can't wait to see the flowers," he said.
"Me too, Jack," his mom said, giving him a hug.
The Autumn Festival
Later that evening, Jack and his family went to the village square. There was an autumn festival with games, music, and lots of yummy treats.
Jack saw his friends and ran to join them. They played games like apple bobbing and sack races. Jack won a small pumpkin as a prize and was very happy.
As the sun set, the village square glowed with lanterns. Everyone gathered to watch the autumn parade. There were floats with bright lights and people dressed as friendly scarecrows and happy pumpkins.
Jack's eyes were wide with wonder. "This is magical, Mommy!" he said, holding her hand.
His mom smiled and said, "Yes, Jack, autumn is a special time."
Home Sweet Home
After the festival, Jack and his family walked home under the starry sky. Jack was tired but happy.
At home, Jack's mom tucked him into bed. "Today was a busy day, wasn't it?" she asked.
"Yes, Mommy," Jack said with a yawn. "I love autumn. It's the best season."
His mom kissed his forehead and whispered, "Sweet dreams, little one."
As Jack drifted off to sleep, he dreamed of colorful leaves, shiny apples, and the wonderful autumn adventures he had shared with his family.
And from then on, every autumn was filled with joy, warmth, and the promise of new adventures.
